Welcome to the WikiProject on jazz music! If you have any questions, feel free to ask them on my talk page or the project talk page. --cholmes75(chit chat) 03:59, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
Standardize and improve existing jazz-related articles, keeping in mind Wikipedia's policies regarding WP:NPOV.
Create any needed jazz articles.
Elevate as many jazz-related articles as possible to Good or Featured status.
Coordinate positive contributions to articles relating to all aspects and styles of jazz.
What this WikiProject does not aim to do:
Act in an exclusionary way toward any particular styles of jazz or any jazz musicians.
How you can help
Any improvement to jazz-related articles, no matter how minor, is welcome. Copyediting is always welcome!
Add appropriate media to articles. Make sure any media (particularly images) used in jazz-related articles is tagged and used properly. See Wikipedia:Fair use for more information.
If there is a jazz-related article that Wikipedia doesn't currently have, create one! It doesn't have to be a masterpiece; a stub will do at first.
Properly categorizing musicians by particular genres of the jazz idiom. Please use Category:Jazz musicians by genre as a guide, and familiarize yourself with the page. Many of the genres have sub-genres, so be sure to open the drop down lists!
Project banner: {{Jazz-music-project}} - Should be placed at or near the top of all talk pages on jazz-related articles. Talk pages with this banner will automatically show in Category:WikiProject Jazz articles.
{{Infobox Album}} - To be used in all articles about jazz albums.
{{NewGroveJazz2002}} - Provides a quick, standard method of citing the 2nd ed. of The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz. (Ideally, we should use Grove's own sources, if available.)
Stubs
{{jazz-album-stub}} - For short articles relating to jazz albums.
Moeron (talk·contribs) - very concentrated effort on jazz articles lately, including a wealth of albums for many performers. Also, I will be getting the eighth edition of The Penguin Guide to Jazz soon, so if anyone would like me to look up information from there, just me a message at User Talk:Moeron.
ʃ / - will try to help out here a bit; not an expert, but I did host/program the Jazz show on my college radio station.
User:Christiern Albertson - Formerly Nurdley, I have been adding/correcting facts here and there, concentrating on subjects about which I have first-hand knowledge.
Birdtrain - I've been doing very small grammatical changes here and there, but I hope to start doing some expanding of needed articles.

Music of New Orleans - Some help would greatly be appreciated in this endeavor. Please though, no unreferenced material to be inserted; I know that goes without saying on Wikipedia.
